About the Artist
Lior Tamim (b. 1982) is a project-based artist who explores performance, sound, and space. Trained initially as a photographer, his practice spans diverse mediums and often involves collaborations with professionals such as scientists, engineers, sound experts, programmers, and choreographers. His works are renowned for their site-specific nature, exploration of existential themes, and their ability to blur the boundaries between art, daily life, body, and technology.
Lior Tamim's "Moon" series premieres at Givon on Paper, showcasing aerial photographs of mountainous landscapes located in a conflict zone in Somalia. Captured from a helicopter using a Leica camera, Tamim's images are printed on warm-toned archival paper, reminiscent of the early photography qualities of the late 19th century.
The series encourages viewers to discern subtle nuances within the charged landscapes, thereby amplifying the tangible presence of the images. This collection underscores Tamim's practice of utilizing photography not just as a means of documentation but as a tool for prompting profound reflections on the intersections of art, space, conflict and human impression.
