About the Artist

Efraim Reuytenberg, known as Fima (1914-2005), was born in Harbin, China, where his father worked as an engineer. He immigrated to Israel in 1949, settling in Jerusalem after studying in Shanghai and pursuing interests in architecture and painting. In the 1940s, Fima was active in Shanghai's artistic community, not only as a painter but also designing theater sets.

Influenced by his early immersion in Chinese culture, his artwork spans abstract paintings, figure studies, and still lifes. Fima divided his time between Jerusalem and Paris, showcasing his art in exhibitions at renowned venues such as the Baltimore Museum and the Jewish Museum in New York.

His paintings are included in esteemed public collections worldwide, such as the Paris Museum of Modern Art, Winnipeg Art Gallery in Canada, The Israel Museum, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and the Haifa Museum. Fima exhibited solo exhibitions at the Israel Museum in the late 1960s, the Tel Aviv Museum in 1976, and The Mané-Katz Museum in Haifa (now closed) in the 1990s.
