Pinchas Cohen Gan (born 1942 in Morocco, immigrated to Israel in 1949) is an Israeli artist recognized for his politically and socially engaged work. Alongside his artistic practice, he conducted a number of theoretical studies on critical aspects of aesthetics, sociology, and the philosophy of art.

Cohen Gan's work is often associated with politically charged projects, themes of foreignness, immigration, and fragile mental states, while also reflecting on Israeli society and norms. His works express reflections on alienation, rejection, and hostile environments. Over the years, his practice has also addressed the memory of the Holocaust.

In the 1970s, he conducted various artistic actions that challenged conventional forms of art viewing, such as burying iron ingots with Israeli demographic features along the country’s borders. During this period, Cohen Gan studied at Columbia University in New York and exhibited his work in various galleries in NYC and Washington D.C.

In 1992, the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion in Tel Aviv held a retrospective exhibition of his works on paper. During that time, he participated in an artist residency program at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris.

Cohen Gan received several notable awards, including the Sandberg Award (1979), the Dizengoff Award for Lifetime Achievement (1995), and the Israel Award for Painting (2008). In 2005, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Israeli Ministry of Culture. Cohen Gan became an associate professor at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in 1989, and his works are held in both private and public collections.
