About The Artist

Erez Israeli (b. 1974, Beer Sheva) is a Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist who employs diverse media, including painting, sculpture, installation, video performances, and various printing techniques.

 

Through his practice, Israeli explores representations of identity, collective history, death, beauty, pain, and desire, while critically examining issues related to the preservation, expansion, and critique of Jewish identity.

 

Israeli graduated from HaMidrasha – Faculty of the Arts in 2003 (Beit Berl, Israel) and obtained an MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in 2004. His accolades include recognition from the Israeli Minister of Culture (2012) and the Keren Sandel Foundation and Sandel Family Foundation Award for Sculpture (2009).

 

His works are held in both private and public art collections and have been extensively exhibited at institutions such as Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin; Gallery Crone, Paris; Givon Art Gallery, Tel Aviv; Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art; The Israel Museum, Jerusalem; Museum of the Seam, Jerusalem; and the Jewish Historical Museum, Amsterdam, among others.
