About the Artist
Malachi Sgan-Cohen (b. 1990, Jerusalem) is a multidisciplinary artist, incorporating photography, collage, sculpture, installation, and digital drawings in his practice. Sgan-Cohen integrates material-formal research and conceptual dialogues with early Modernism, while also exploring the intersection between physical objects and their representation, figuration, and abstraction.
In 2014, he graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem (BFA), and since then has showcased his work extensively in notable institutions, including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art; Ashdod Art Museum; The New Gallery, Musrara, Jerusalem; The Israeli 7th Biennale for Drawing ; Givon Art Gallery, Tel Aviv; Atelier Shemi, Cabri; MoBY (Museum of Bat-Yam); and The New Gallery Artist’s Studios Teddy, Jerusalem.
His works are included in various private and public collections, among them The Israel Museum and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. In 2018, he was one of the recipients of the Israeli Ministry of Culture’s Young Artist Award and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship.
